Northern Glen Innes EOI

The Northern Glen Innes Redevelopment Project is the Corporation’s first initiative to trial a new way of working to deliver on its Housing resources objective (see EOI document for further information).

This follows activity undertaken between 2009 and 2011 to modernise 120 Tamaki state houses and build a new 40-unit older people’s complex at 4 Kings Road, Panmure.

The project will also contribute towards achievement of the Government’s wider intentions for the provision of Social Housing in New Zealand as recommended in the April 2010 report prepared by the Housing Shareholders’ Advisory Group2. The Minister of Housing’s June 2011 announcement3 about growing the volume of social, affordable and niche housing provided by the third sector provides further background.

HNZC states that the project should be seen in the context of potential urban regeneration across Tamaki, to demonstrate innovation and cost effectiveness in delivery that has applicability at a larger scale.
