Community Housing Aotearoa (CHA) is re-instituting a tiered membership structure in 2011-2012 to replace its previously nominal membership fee of just $20 (excl. GST). This decision was ratified at the 2010 AGM and reflects the reality of changing circumstances for the sector. Those tiers and associated benefits are detailed here:

Ideal for medium to large sized housing organisations and groups, urban and rural, who support more community housing. Full membership ensures full voting rights under the CHA Constitution. Full membership is also an entry point for the CHA Quality Assurance programme and counts towards a portion of the initial cost of entering the programme.

Most suitable for larger sized, growth oriented housing organisations and groups who support more community housing, as well as organisations with a long-term interest in and commitment to the growth of the sector.
Benefits specific to Full Members and Supporting Members:
- Supported access to entire CHA best practice resource library worth c.$500
- Stepping stone to full participation in the CHA Quality Assurance programme & training
- Participation in full member surveys and forums + receiving follow-up reports
- Discounted or free services such as promotional material and media relations advice

Most suitable for individuals and organisations who operate alongside the community housing sector and are not actively involved in providing community housing. Likely to include other non-government organisations with a strong allied interest in housing, academics and researchers, government agencies and territorial local authorities, businesses off ering services directly related to housing and wider private sector. This tier is open to ALL membership applicants including smaller community housing organisations, although Associate Members are NOT able to vote at AGMs.

- Discounted attendance at CHA events, including annual conferences and forums
