Habitat for Humanity believes in a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and works towards this in the Central North Island through building, repairing and renting homes. Our work is supported through funds raised from a network of ReStores and Reuse stores, generous donors, sponsors and volunteers who give their time through all our programmes.
- Our Critical Home Repair Programme provides essential maintenance and repair solutions for low-income homeowners, with affordable no-interest repayments over up to five years.
- Our Social Rental homes are located throughout the region, and include pensioner housing in Hamilton and www.freemancourt.co.nz in Te Awamutu. Many of these are provided to MSD clients utilising income related rent subsidy.
- Our Assisted Home Ownership Programme enables whānau to work alongside Habitat to build their own home and then make affordable regular repayments to Habitat at a no profit basis. Our rent-then-buy model helps whānau build up a deposit which they can use when seeking independent finance to buy their home from Habitat.
