Habitat for Humanity Invercargill

http://www.habitat.org.nz/

Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Invercargill works in partnership with people of goodwill and families in genuine housing and social need to eliminate poverty housing across Southland. Working with a wide range of community groups, schools, individuals, and corporate organisations, Habitat Invercargill builds and renovates homes for families who are living in substandard housing or through hardship are struggling to maintain their homes. Habitat’s vision is ‘A world where everybody has a decent place to live.’
Our work is supported through funds raised from our ReStores and The Garage ReUse Shop, generous donors, sponsors and volunteers who give their time through all our programmes.
Our Critical Home Repair Programme provides essential maintenance and repair solutions for low-income homeowners, with affordable no-interest repayments over up to five years.
Our Assisted Home Ownership Programme enables selected families to work alongside us to build their own home and then make affordable regular repayments to us on a no profit basis. Our rent-then-buy model helps them build up a deposit which they can use when seeking independent finance to buy their home from us.
We have a limited number of Social Rental properties where the rental is set as a percentage of household income.
