MPBI is a Māori Incorporation that was formed on 27 May 1957. We currently have approximately 780 shareholders, with a total land holding of around 750 acres.

Since 1957 the main business activity had been farming, with the development of over 30 hectares of kiwifruit orchards occurring in more recent years. We also have avocado orchards.

In May 2010 MPBI opened its Pacific Coast Retirement Village (PCV) alongside its retirement development partner, Retirement Assets Ltd.

Tui Landscape Ltd were our first long term leasee on our Industrial lands closely followed by Stadium Storage Ltd.

In December 2011 MPBI’s Kuia and Kaumatua Papakainga expanded from four one bedroom units to a further 10 two bedroom units with the formal opening held in March 2012. Two more two bedroom units were completed in 2013.

124 bedroom rental homes were added to the housing stock in 2016, all tenanted by shareholders or beneficiaries of shareholders. Our most recent housing project was completed in December 2017 with three whānau moving into their own License to Occupy homes.
