Collaboration
Supporting the development of social and affordable housing, particularly in Auckland, has involved many in the sector and you can learn more here.
Government, housing groups and the sector are coming together to find better housing solutions for Māori.
Others are working together to discuss Pacific people’s housing aspirations.
A number of CHA members are keen on learning about how a Housing First approach can be implemented in New Zealand to address homelessness.
Three networks exist with our support:
- The Auckland Community Housing Providers Network (ACHPN)
(ACHPN) is a group of not-for-profit community housing organisations based in the Auckland region that are actively involved in developing and providing affordable housing. Go here to see their website.
- Te Wai Pounamu Community Housing Provider Network began in 2015 with the support of CHA, and is composed of community housing providers based in the South Island who are actively involved in developing and providing community housing.
- Auckland Emergency Housing provider group
This is a network of community housing organisations with a focus on families in immediate housing need with no alternative supports.
On a national level we have some key relationships with groups such as The New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development, National Council of Christian Social Services, The Australasian Housing Institute, and PrefabNZ.
Infrastructure NZ
Infrastructure NZ promotes best practice in national infrastructure development through research, advocacy and public and private sector collaboration. Infrastructure NZ members come from diverse sectors across New Zealand, equity owners, service providers, public sector agencies, and major infrastructure users. CHA’s relationship with Infrastructure NZ exists to help facilitate opportunities for CHA members to partner with them on new housing supply and to ensure proper conditions for private sector involvement are recognised and promoted.
NZCCSS
NZCCSS represents six church networks: the Anglican Care Network, the Baptist, Catholic and Presbyterian social services agencies, as well as the Methodist and the Salvation Army churches. Their members deliver a wide range of services that cover such areas as child and family services, services for older people, food bank and emergency services, housing, budgeting, disability, addictions, community development and employment services. The New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services works with CHA to help identify and support social service providers requiring housing to deliver their services to clients.
Australasian Housing Institute
The Australasian Housing Institute (AHI) is the professional association of people working and volunteering in the multi-disciplinary social housing industry in Australia and New Zealand. CHA’s relationship with AHI focuses on enhancing professional development and in recognising excellence amongst New Zealand’s community housing providers and professionals.
