Member Networks

The membership of Community Housing Aotearoa comprises five broad groups of interests and activities:

  • Charitable trusts and community organisations that provide affordable housing and other accommodation assistance to people with serious unmet housing needs. This assistance is often achieved by offering rental at significantly less than market rate.
  • Kaupapa Maori organisations, including iwi and hapu organisations, which are interested in providing housing for their members and developing communal lands and tribal assets.
  • Community organisations that are interested in providing affordable home ownership options such as shared equity schemes. This is particularly targeted at assisting people in the so-called intermediate market, who are renting privately but cannot afford to finance the purchase of their own home.
  • Social service agencies. For instance, agencies providing health and welfare services which view housing as an integral part of the service they provide to their clients.
  • Local economic development agencies. For instance, agencies and groups with an interest in the important role that housing has in community and economic development.

Our members are currently developing networks in regional and special interest groups.
