CHA submission on retained affordable housing in Auckland Council
“We request deferral of all development contributions for Retained Affordable Housing (see Auckland Accord and PAUP definitions), for the duration of the period that the residential unit is occupied by a household that meets the agreed definintions. The Council would record some form of encumberance on title of the amount of the deferred development contributions. Should the unit be no longer occupied by an eligible household, or managed by a registered community housing provider, then the development contributions amount would be payable to Auckland Council. We see this as an incentive tool to stimulate the supply of truly affordable housing for Aucklanders earning the median household income and below. It is also a deferral – not forgiveness- of revenue. ”
