Accessible Properties Welcomes Budget Recognition

May 18, 2018 | News

The budget announcement included an additional $234 million in operating funding for public housing.

“Accessible Properties welcomes the opportunity to partner with Government to achieve their stated aim of 1,600 more public housing places every year,” says Greg Orchard, Accessible Properties Chief Executive.

“Critical will be Government positively following through on the investment announced and constructively partnering over the long term with community housing providers if we are to accelerate the delivery of housing solutions to people in need.”

Government stated that funding is intended for new public housing opportunities and is looking to partner with community housing providers to deliver these.

“It is vitally important that we work together to increase the supply of warm, dry homes available in areas of great need, like Auckland and Tauranga,” says Greg.

“We are encouraged by Government’s commitment supporting the work we and other housing providers do in communities and we look forward to continuing to deliver housing support for New Zealanders in need.”
