Livingston and Associates Ltd. have been conducting research funded by the Building Research Levy on the opportunity of alternative housing tenures for New Zealand. Research Update 3 titled “Renter Housing Need and Unmet Need” examines the number of households experiencing housing need and those who have unmet need as percentages of all households. The report finds that Māori and Pacific households make up a disproportionate number of those households experiencing housing need and unmet housing need.
