APNZL opens five new homes in Auckland for people in need

Sep 21, 2018 | News

The homes were built as part of a joint venture partnership between Ngāti Whātua Orākei and Fletcher Living, delivering 200 houses that will be a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes – 30 per cent of which are designated for public housing.

“Accessible Properties is incredibly proud to be involved in the delivery of these new homes and to work with people and agencies that are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our tenants,” says Greg Orchard, Accessible Properties Chief Executive.

“It is critical that our homes are part of strong, sustainable, mixed communities, creating places where people feel they belong.”

The five homes opened today are the first of a suite of 105 new APNZL homes being built across Auckland, with 61 currently under way – including another 14 in the Moire Rd development.

“We know that people with disabilities, older people and those on low incomes are discriminated against in the housing market, with up to 70 per cent of our homes currently housing a person living with a disability,” says Greg.

“That is why APNZL is committed to growing our housing portfolio and doing our bit to ease the housing crisis for people in housing need – as we have for more than 65 years.”
