Meanwhile, Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett has said that New Zealand’s housing problems are not new but the result of ongoing issues and there is no housing crisis.
It is clear that Government is out of touch with the severity of the housing crisis. On Monday 23rd, Danielle Bergin,of CHA member: Island Child Charitable Trust, talked to RNZ about the issue of homelessness, her own experience and through her work at Island Child. Danielle comments:
Our society and our elected government have the power to turn this around. We all have a duty of care to our most vulnerable citizens. What legacy can we leave to future generations? We sold off our land? We sold off our nation’s children?
