Number rough sleeping in Auckland increase

On the night of the 22nd of May The Auckland Rough Sleepers Initiative conducted its 10th Street Count. It is conservatively estimated that at least 200+ people were sleeping rough on the night of the count. At 147 the last street count in 2014 passed the 100 mark for the first time. These are indicative figures on the extent of homelessness in Auckland. The experiences of people’s rough sleeping has been illustrated in the media lately. On John Campbell, RNZ Checkpoint, last night one young girl talked about her experience.
